European city of knowledge
The business plan “Knowledge for Growth 2010-17-30” sets a wide frame for the business- and urban policy efforts, and Aarhus as a European city of knowledge is a natural focal point for many of the initiatives in the business plan.
“Competences provide competitiveness. Businesses in Aarhus must not compete on price, but rather on knowledge and the ability to create new products and new practices. This requires for the area’s businesses to have easy access to the newest knowledge and skilled labour,” says the recently departed Mayor, Nicolai Wammen.
The business community commends the business plan
There is strong support for Aarhus municipality at Dansk Erhverv, and vice president Niels Milling is delighted in Aarhus seeing the business policy in a broader perspective with close connection between business- and urban development:
“At Dansk Erhverv we haven’t seen equivalent thorough strategic material for any other city in Denmark, and we think the objectives of Aarhus as a European city of knowledge, the great growth ambitions and the development of a creative and diverse city are coherent, relevant and interesting,” says Niels Milling.
